As the saying goes, an organization’s most valuable asset takes the elevator down at the end of every day. It is important that those assets return the next morning. ?Human resources or “human resource management” strategically approaches the management of an organization’s employees. HRM includes hiring, firing/laying off, development of the workforce (training and education), compensation (aligning incentives with the firm’s mission) and determining the “right size” of an organization. HRM also provides expertise on management best practices, industry standards and incentive structures.
