With a BA (Economics and Statistics double major) from ST. Xavier?s College and MBA from Melbourne Business School, Gaurav has worked in advertising, as an entrepreneur and was recently named Managing Director of Random House India.
Early in his career, he was an Advertising Sales Executive with Readers Digest India and was responsible for a 20% increase in advertising sales and 15% expansion in the client base. He left Readers Digest to become do-founder and managing partner of Woods India (interior design and furniture manufacturer) which he later sold to attend business school at Melbourne Business School.
Upon graduating from business school, he joined the highly selective and competitive Bertelsmann Entrepreneurs Programme (Bertelsmann is Random House Group?s parent company). He has held a number of impressive positions throughout Bertelsmann through which he has had a significant impact on the organization. Most recently he was based in Hong Kong as the Managing Director for DSHK, a consumer focused business. He built up the business in China and Hong Kong and it reached profitability in just two years. In late 2008, he was named Managing Director of Random House India where he will have broad responsibility for Random House?s publishing operations in India.
